Getting OnLine
The San Pedro College of Business Administration
(SPCBA), together with the Computer Department, breaks into the more significant
scene ot the computing world and the academic the is August. For one, the
college finally goes online in the Internet. The department, on the other
hand, debutes on its monthly publication, the CD Online.
The computing scene in the local arena recently exploded wiht the
introduction of the Internet in the academe. In 1993, the Department of
Science and Technology (DOST) plantedthe seed of what was to be the country's
forst gateway to the Internet. Several representatives from Ateneo de Manila,
UP Diliman and Dela Salle University studied the possibility of connecting
to the Internet. By the end of the year, an electronic mail facility, involving
DOST and these institutions, was established via dial-up to Australia's
Victoria University of Technology.
Truly, SPCBA joins the ranks of these respectable schools that are connected
to the world via the Internet. This latest development in the college broadens
the user base of Internet and makes it mass-based, producing world class
students that know the value of information.
Meanwhile, the official newsletter of the Computer Department acknowledges
its new rol on the light of this development. CD Online acts as the hub
of Information for computer majors and enthusuasts, in and out of the college.
Further, it is employed to promote awareness of information technology
trends of the continuing upgrade of facilities adept to the needs
of the curriculum and , of the sustaining efforts of faculty members and
staff to become learned individuals.
Today's effort are impressed upon the stakeholders of SPCBA - administration,
faculty members, employees and students alike, for them to participate
and contribute surely , this getting online is the need of the time.
